SUMMARY:Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride (GSMTR) is a legendary off-road gathering hosted by the Southeast Toyota Land Cruiser Association (STLCA). For over three decades\, it’s brought Toyota enthusiasts together for mud\, rocks\, mountains\, and community. \n\nHow It Started\nIn the early 1990s\, when TLCA was working toward a national footprint\, a group of Toyota fans in Tennessee formed a new chapter dedicated to one big goal: host a Toyota-specific event in the Southeast. In 1991\, the Southeast Toyota Land Cruiser Association was born\, founded by Bob Hollingsworth\, Dwight Yokum\, and Rainey Kirk. \nThe club launched GSMTR in 1992 with 39 trucks at Tellico — double the expected turnout. Among the crowd was Toyota Trails editor Gary Bjork\, who made the trip from California to support what would become a lasting legacy. \n               \n\n\nTellico\, Golden Mountain\, and Windrock\nGSMTR’s original home was the fabled Tellico OHV area. Sadly\, Tellico was shut down — not by the will of the people or science-backed reasons\, but by overreaching Forest Service officials influenced by Trout Unlimited lobbying. The loss of Tellico marked the end of an era. \nGSMTR shifted to Golden Mountain\, and later found its current home at Windrock Park — a massive off-road park that delivers everything from scenic overlooks to technical rock trails. \n              \n\n\nModern GSMTR\nToday\, GSMTR is a massive reunion. Over 300 trucks and 500 people roll in for trail rides\, nightly dinners\, a raffle that supports charity\, and vendor setups. It’s a mix of off-road culture\, Land Cruiser loyalty\, and Toyota community vibes — from mild dirt roads to full-send climbs. \nThe event honors those who helped build it — including friends and trail leaders we’ve lost along the way. Whether you show up with lockers and 40s or your bone-stock rig\, you’ll find your people here. \n                          \n\nWhether you’ve been attending since the Tellico days or just found us on Instagram — GSMTR is your invitation to be part of something bigger.

DESCRIPTION:Copperstate Overland is a fully-supported on-road/off-road driving adventure open to vintage off-road vehicles. Modeled after the renowned Copperstate 1000 vintage car road rally\, the Overland provides a fully catered\, first class\, off-road driving experience. \nEach year a new route will cover miles of beautiful desert terrain\, verdant river valley and alpine landscape throughout the state of Arizona and beyond. \nAs the vintage off-road vehicle hobby continues to thrive it has evolved into a lifestyle as more and more collectors are driving and enjoying their vintage off-road vehicles. The Copperstate Overland is the epitome of such a lifestyle event and allows participants to enjoy four days of glorious driving with fellow enthusiasts while having only the sheer exhilaration of the open trails to contend with\, as all the details have been handled by our capable staff. \nThe eligibility model year requirement is 1979 and older. Special consideration will be given to exceptional vehicles manufactured after the 1979 model year. All vehicles are subject to the same standards for admission and acceptance.

DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Natural State Overland\, this rally offers educational sessions (winching\, tire repair\, navigation\, first‑aid\, travel planning)\, vendor exhibits\, trip reports and an event raffle. Guided trail runs require a National Forest permit and are subject to availabilitynaturalstateoverland.org. Only street‑legal vehicles and dual‑sport motorcycles are allowed (no ATVs/UTVs) \nFees: \negistration opens May 1\, 2026. Three‑day admission (driver only) ≈US$60 early\, US$75 regular\, US$90 late and US$100 on‑site. Passengers 13+ add ≈US$10 each and guided trail fee ≈US$40 (covers the special permit and insurance). If the permit is not granted\, the trail fee is refundednaturalstateoverland.org. \n
